Now Spring has well and truly sprung and the gardens are coming to life with a vengeance, it’s time to make sure you’ve marked out any new plants so you know what to expect as they grow.
Now admittedly you could use these gorgeous plant markers for anything you’re growing from seed and can’t see yet, but you’ve got to admit, they look great popped into your herb pots too!
The beauty of the markers is they’re written in monoline calligraphy, so you don’t need any special kit; waterproof paint marker pens on your plant markers are all you need. You’ll definitely need waterproof pens for outdoor plants but I’d recommend them even for herbs on your kitchen window sill just in case you splash water on them when giving them a drink.
If you are using a thinner tipped marker and want to try faux calligraphy, you can access my free alphabet download and tutorial here:
When writing on your plant markers, remember to go slowly and carefully, pointing the pen downwards (rather than at an angle) but remembering not to press down on your nib (in case it delivers too much ink and blobs on your work – most waterproof inks are oil based and are a nightmare to get off if you make a mistake)
A good all rounder pen to use is the Motolow ONE4ALL pens, and you can get them in a variety of colours and nib thicknesses. I would recommend a 1mm nib for plant markers if you want to do faux calligraphy but in the video I used a 2mm nib width for monoline calligraphy.
